Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Creative Pixels ("we", "us", "our") handles personal data when you use Pixel Academy (the "Platform"). We designed the Platform to collect as little personal information as possible — most of your learning data lives on your device, not on our servers.

This policy is written to comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Scope

This policy covers the Pixel Academy website and any sub-pages (courses, dashboard, labs, enrollment). It does not cover third-party websites we link to. Please review their privacy policies separately.

3. Data We Collect

3.1 Data you provide directly

• Account data — name and email address when you register
• Profile data — optional profile picture, bio, learning preferences
• Payment data — handled by our payment partner; we only receive a transaction reference (order ID), not your card or bank details
• Support messages — emails or form submissions you send us

3.2 Data collected automatically

• Device & browser — browser type, OS, screen size (for responsive rendering)
• Usage analytics — which pages you visit, time on page, course progress (in aggregate, anonymised where possible)
• IP address & approximate location — via standard web-server logs, used for security and fraud prevention

3.3 Data stored locally on your device

The following is stored in your browser's localStorage and stays on your device unless you explicitly enable sync:

• Course progress and completed modules
• Quiz scores and lab submissions
• Enrollment records (which courses you've paid for)
• UI preferences (theme, voice settings for Gini)

4. How We Use Your Data

We use collected data to:

• Provide you access to enrolled courses and track your progress
• Process payments and issue invoices / receipts
• Send course updates, certificates, and support responses
• Improve the Platform — fix bugs, optimise performance, add features
• Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorised access
• Comply with legal and tax obligations
• With your explicit consent, send marketing about new courses (you can opt out any time)

5. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on these legal grounds:

• Contract — to deliver the courses you've paid for
• Consent — for marketing emails and optional features
• Legitimate interests — for analytics, security, and Platform improvement
• Legal obligation — for tax records and lawful requests from authorities

6. Local Storage & Cookies

Pixel Academy uses browser localStorage to remember your progress and preferences offline. These are not cookies in the traditional sense and are not transmitted to our servers unless sync is enabled.

We use minimal cookies — essential session cookies for login, and anonymised analytics cookies. You can clear localStorage and cookies any time via your browser settings; doing so may reset your course progress on that device.

7. Third-Party Services

We work with a small number of trusted partners:

• Razorpay — payment processing. Razorpay receives your payment details directly; we do not see or store card/bank data. See Razorpay's privacy policy.
• Google Fonts — serves the Inter typeface. Google may log IP addresses when fonts are loaded.
• Hosting provider — stores our website files and server logs.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers. Any future analytics or marketing tool integration will be disclosed here before being enabled.

8. Payment Information

All payments are processed by Razorpay. Sensitive payment data — card numbers, CVV, UPI PINs, net-banking credentials — is entered on Razorpay's PCI-DSS compliant servers and is never transmitted to or stored by Pixel Academy. We receive only a transaction reference, status, and amount.

9. Sharing & Disclosure

We share personal data only when:

• Required to deliver the service (e.g. payment processing via Razorpay)
• You consent to the sharing
• Required by law, court order, or a valid government request
• Necessary to protect our rights, prevent fraud, or ensure user safety
• As part of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, in which case we will notify you in advance

10. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only as long as necessary:

• Account data — until you delete your account, plus up to 90 days in backups
• Payment records — as required by Indian tax and accounting laws (currently 8 years)
• Support emails — up to 3 years for quality and reference
• Server logs — up to 90 days for security and debugging

11. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards: HTTPS for all data in transit, access controls for our systems, secure third-party partners, and minimal data collection. Despite our efforts, no method of online transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, contact us immediately.

12. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correct — ask us to fix inaccurate data
• Delete — ask us to erase your data (subject to legal retention)
• Restrict — limit how we process your data
• Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Withdraw consent — for any processing based on consent
• Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Complain — file a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India or your local authority

13. Children's Privacy

Pixel Academy is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us immediately and we will delete it. Users between 13 and 18 must have parental or guardian consent.

14. International Users

Pixel Academy is operated from India. If you access the Platform from outside India, your data may be transferred to, stored, and processed in India. By using the Platform you consent to this transfer.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or a prominent Platform notice. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest version. Continued use of the Platform after changes indicates acceptance.
